Are you Gluten-Free? Should you be?

This has been a hot topic for the last couple of years and many of us are taking the time to learn more about inflammation in our bodies and how it affects our day to day functions, mentally and physically, as well as the life threatening chronic diseases that sends us down a lifetime ritual of prescription medications that may lead to more physical problems later and never really fixing the underlying condition. Gluten intolerance is affecting as much as 15%-16% of our population, WOW, you do the math (pretty much 2 of out every 10 friends!!).

What is Gluten and why may it be a problem for you?

It is a plant protein found in many grains and also is hidden in many foods that do not disclose it as gluten on the label. If you are sensitive to it, your body may have an abnormal immune reaction to the protein which may cause inflammation in your gut damaging the intestinal lining causing many side effects such as migraines, weight gain, fatigue, skin diseases, joint pain, muscle cramps and so many more!

It is very easy to find out if you have any reactions just by eliminating gluten from your diet for about 30 days. If it is a problem for you, it will become very obvious in how you feel.  Many times you will notice the improvement in your symptoms as little as 7 days! The way you look and feel will be incredible. There are also blood tests for gluten sensitivity (typically expensive!!), so I recommend simply changing the diet first.

Our diet greatly creates the perfect environment for health.  This will be the first test to see if gluten-free is the way of life for you, for your health, and for many, even your family.

Gluten is found in many grains, processed foods, canned goods, condiments, sauces, soups, even our vitamins may have gluten in them! Since there are so many hidden ingredients in our food sources on the market today, it is best to just take the 30 days, try a (very fulfilling) diet of tested products that are labeled gluten free. When you find your health, weight and outlook of everyday living is significantly better then you know this is the right diet for you.
